Islington Greens launch European Election campaign

Islington Greens have launched their European election campaign in Highbury – where the party are hoping to build on their success of getting a councillor at the last election.

The current Green MEP Jean Lambert came to the launch, alongside Gulnar Hasnain, who is one of the Green candidates standing for the European elections.

The party is determined to put green issues on the agenda and win votes to get a Green MEP, as Islington prepares to go to the polls on Thursday 23rd May. Because the Greens already have one Green MEP, they are London’s leading pro-Remain party.

Caroline Russell, councillor for the Highbury East ward, said, “The Greens are the second party in Islington – and these coming European elections are a chance for voters here to be heard, in a place that delivered a resounding ‘remain’ vote at the last referendum. We hope people vote Green at the European elections because we have a real chance of winning a number of MEPs – including fantastic candidates like Gulnar Hasnain”.
