Islington Green Party has selected their candidate to contest the forth-coming Junction ward by-election.
Long-time Islington resident, Mick Holloway has lived off Crouch Hill, N19, since 1977 and is a Licenced Lay Minister of St. Mary’s Church, Ashley Road. A qualified Civil Engineer and having looked after his two daughters as a father at home, his career has been with voluntary sector organisations, as a manager of projects working with homeless people in Islington, as director of a refugee project in Newham and, until Febuary 2012, as CEO of Stepping Stones Trust providing accommodation services for ex-offenders in London.
His political experience includes CND membership, the campaign against the abolition of the ILEA, establishing and being vice-Chair of the Beaumont Rise Neighbourhood Forum and successful local campaigns against unsuitable developments and on behalf of a family of Kurdish asylum seekers. He is currently a governor at Duncombe Primary School and on the steering group to establish the Crouch Hill and Hornsey Rise Neighbourhood Forum.
