Sign the ‘Defend the Whittington Hospital Coalition’ petition
Green candidate for the Junction by-election, Mick Holloway, last week showed his support for the Defend the Whittington Hospital Coalition campaign by attending the public meeting.
Mick said “I fully endorse the campaign to save the first class medical services provided by the hospital for the local community. I particularly support the moves towards a London-wide strategic approach to fighting the Government’s divide and rule efforts of forcing hospital boards to work in isolation.
“The previous Labour administration brought in widespread use of the Private Finance Initiative in the National Health Service as well as the idea of the internal market and foundation status which are driving the current actions of the hospital board.
“The Board should listen to calls to halt the sell-off and to demonstrate how the critical health needs of the local residents, which are only expected to increase over the next 20 years, will be met.
“We need to stop the slide towards a private health service and instead promote a more progressive taxation system and stop corporations avoiding tax, in order to prevent the mauling of our national public health service.”
The Greens support a publicly owned National Health Service. Labour’s PFI schemes have left the Whittington Hospital in a dire mess, which the Lib Dem and Tory Coalition government are now exploiting. Greens are supporting the local community campaign to save the Whittington we urge you to sign their petition.
