Opposing Hard Brexit

The Green Party opposes Brexit and we vehemently reject a hard Brexit.  We support a transnational approach to the problems – economic, environmental and political – that we face.  It is only through international cooperation that we are going to re-launch our economies still under a cloud from the global banking crisis, that we are going to solve intractable environmental problems like global warming and air pollution, and that we can bring about constructive solutions in situations like those in the Ukraine, Syria and North Korea.

The Green Party opposes hard Brexit because we do not want the UK to become sitting targets for large foreign corporations looking for low taxes, lax banking regulation and beneficial employment laws.

The Green Party wants to continue close cooperation with like-minded groups in Europe to become leaders in the new environmentally friendly technologies to provide a platform for an active and sustainable economy.

The Green Party believes that the UK should work with its European allies against terrorism and international conflict, instead of relying on the sale of arms to dictatorships in the middle-east and elsewhere.

We believe that it is only through closer cooperation with our existing long-term allies that UK can take a leadership role in stabilising the global economies, overcoming global warming and pollution, and building a safer world for all its citizens.
