The Green Party welcomes the new council homes being built on Park View estate but is pushing the council to also remember existing residents, still living in cold, damp homes. Conditions in the pre-existing homes have been of long-running concern, with residents campaigning for action since 2018 with the support of Green Councillor Caroline Russell.
Local Green campaigner Benali Hamdache said: “It’s great to see new council homes starting on site -but the existing cold damp ones need fixing too! No one should be living with the levels of damp we’ve seen. The Labour council must prioritise fixing these homes too, not leave repairs for current residents until later.”
