ISLINGTON GREENS COMMENT ON BUDGET CUTS

Islington Green Party are sympathetic to the challenge faced by the Labour Council of minimising the impact of £8 million cuts.

However, the decision to cut the Green Living Centre, which does such excellent work creating affordable warmth, tackling fuel poverty and bringing £600k in borough revenue through contracting services to neighbouring boroughs is desperately misguided.

Islington Green Party Campaigns Co-ordinator Caroline Russell says “Labour are wrong to dismiss the work of the Green Living Centre as having little relevance to the most vulnerable in our community. We remain committed to this vital community resource which crucially helps the poorest Islington residents to reduce their fuel bills.”
