During my forty years as an Islington resident I have been actively involved in the local community in many different ways: most notably serving as a school governor for 20 years. I maintain my commitment to education by volunteering with local schools, working to raise aspirations and help with university applications.

I worked as a university-based scientist, before taking early retirement recently. I volunteer with Islington Age UK and until recently was a carer for my elderly neighbour, so am very aware of the issues affecting older people locally, particularly accessing health and social care. My partner has a physical disability and his disability has given me an insight into issues of accessibility, as well as challenges facing local people with caring responsibilities. It is really important that the voice of these two under-represented groups is heard in our local council.

I have two adult children. One lives locally and I am very aware of problems with availability and affordability of local housing. If elected I will dedicate myself to serving the people of Islington, bringing my local knowledge and extensive experience to the position which I would be honoured to hold.

I have lived in Islington since 1968 and was a founder member of the Cyclists Action Group, now known as Cycle Islington, in 1976.  Later I spent over 20 years working for the Council’s Housing Department before retiring. I don’t know how to do fancy tricks on modern mobile phones but I can find the Town Hall and read committee reports and support Green Party policy.
