Canonbury
Talia Hussain

I’ve lived and worked in Islington for over 20 years. Recently, I’ve helped set up an organisation that supports community-building through resident-led street associations. I’ve also worked with local groups and the council to improve facilities for safe cycling in the borough.
My background is as an artist, designer and entrepreneur with 20 years of experience across advertising, communications, digital technologies and fashion. I’m currently a PhD candidate exploring fashion retail and how it needs to change in a sustainable future.
I want to push the council on new policies for greening our streets, and retrofitting our homes with insulation and renewable energy technologies like solar panels and heat pumps.

Chris said “I’ve worked to support our Green Councillor Caroline Russell on how we can make Islington Council more green. There are many more things the council could be doing to act on the climate crisis.
“With more Greens on the council we can deliver real climate action.”
Chloe Rice

Chloe is a teacher and Phase Lead in an East London primary school. She specialises in Early Years and has written articles on the importance of play based learning and the outdoors on children’s mental health and development. She sees the importance of supporting the younger generation to develop knowledge and skills needed to tackle local and national environmental issues, as well as building characters for sustainable communities for the future.
She is a school health and safety representative for the National Education Union and takes seriously the importance of families health and safety needs in their homes and local environments; whether this be through supporting local food gardening projects, volunteering with food banks or coordinating with national groups to aid refugees both here and abroad.
Chloe lives locally and would like to see more school streets and play streets, having seen the positive impact of these within the community she works in.
