Tufnell Park

Jon Nott

Jon Nott

Jon has lived in North Islington for over twenty years and worked in Archway, Holloway and Finsbury Park. He spent a decade as chief executive of a national youth charity and now works as operations manager for a voluntary organisation.

Jon is the chair of Trustees for a national education charity and the chair of an organisation that provides support to community and employee-owned businesses. As a social housing tenant, Jon understands the challenges faced by many residents living with decades of under-investment in Islington’s housing stock, and the power of residents organising to improve their neighbourhood.

Jon previously stood for election in Tufnell Park in the 2013 by-election and is a supporter of the Community Plan for Holloway and the NoCado campaign. He believes that the multiple crises we face – climate chaos, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Brexit, and the cost of living crisis – make it more important than ever to have Green voices in the Town Hall to hold the establishment parties to account.

Rod Gonggrijp

Rod head Rod has lived in Tufnell Park since 2004 and has two young children going to school here. He is a Parent Governor at Tufnell Park Primary School, and was part of the successful campaign to save St George’s Church from demolition. He campaigns locally for cleaner air; for safer streets for pedestrians and cyclists and for a good redevelopment of the Holloway Prison site, that reflects the desires and needs of the local community. He is also involved in many community activities and fundraising in Crayford Road where he lives. He is very concerned with crime locally and we have been working with local police to improve their response. If elected, he will work tirelessly for Tufnell Park, making sure that housing developments do much more than now to deliver social housing and we do all we can to stop the current crime wave and make people feel safe again.

He believes councillors should be working for and in their community, listening to people and keeping them informed all year round, not just turning up at election time and asking for a vote.

Devon Osborne

Devon Osborne

Devon has lived in the Islington community for over 8 years. Islington’s food banks are finding more and more households in need. Devon has been volunteering and working with a number of projects across Highbury, Finsbury Park and Hornsey. On the Andover Estate she worked on an award-winning project, getting food to families who are missing out because of the government’s harsh rules on who qualifies for support.

“I’ve been working at one of Islington’s Community Centres, connecting residents to services they need. So many people are struggling right now and the council can make all the difference. That’s why I was inspired to get into local politics and try to make a difference.

I feel really passionately about the quality of homes being provided by the council. I grew up in a housing association with bad mould that impacted our lungs. These homes were built to give people a decent and safe place to live, if that goal isn’t being achieved, we need to take action. I was proud of our budget that would have provided extra repair staff, jobs for local people and extra money for resources. As a councillor this is something I would continue to push for.”
