Despite months of local protests, Islington Council have gone ahead and built their new trampoline park at the Sobell Leisure Centre, cutting the Olympic quality sports hall in half.
But now the facility is open, it’s revealed that adults have to pay £10.50 at peak times and children £8.50, so a family of four could be forking out a pricey £39 for a session.
Green Party campaigner Benali Hamdache said: “Islington promote the tramopoline park as a way of getting more people more active. But at those prices many Highbury residents can’t afford it, while footballers, climbers and badminton players have less access to their sports. Affordable sport is now even harder to find in this borough.”
