Cost savings still threaten Whittington Hospital

The battle to save the Whittington Hospital’s A&E services amid threatening cuts is still underway.

While the North Central London NHS has been looking at drastic cost-cutting measures such as closing our local accident and emergency department, staff at the hospital are being told to think about costs through their screensavers.

Emma Dixon said "Cuts in the NHS are causing huge anxiety for patients across Islington. Every time doctors, nurses or other staff log on to their computers they are being told that they have to cut back and save – not just a small amount but millions of pounds this year alone. This must already be having an effect on the care and treatment they are able to give their patients. And as ever, it is the most vulnerable and deprived groups who lose out the most."
